
Academy of Athens (Greece)
The Academy of Athens is administered according to its Founding Charter (Law 4398/1929, GG 308 vol. I, 1929), as amended by subsequent legislation. According to the Charter, its core mission is to promote and advance the Sciences, Humanities, and Fine Arts, while fostering relationships between the Academy, its members, and other academies and scholars worldwide.
To fulfill this mission, the Academy engages in scientific research and offers expert consultations, issues proposals, and provides decisions and opinions that guide public authorities and state institutions.
The Academy is organized into three Sections: Sciences (Math, Physics, Medicine, etc.), Letters & Fine Arts (Prose, Music, History, etc.), and Ethical & Political Sciences (Law, Philosophy, Economics, etc.).
It currently operates 19 Research Centers and Offices and is a member of international bodies like ALLEA, EASAC, IAC, and IAMP.
